Specialized Philippines Introduces 2017 Lineup
Racing DNA clearly in its bikes and athletes
NUVALI – Specialized, the world’s leading innovator for bicycles, cycling apparel and gear, unveiled its 2017 lineup. Known for its rich history of racing, Specialized revealed its performance-oriented models such as the all-new Epic hardtail (HT), Roubaix, Ruby, and Fuse 6Fattie, while also introducing the commuter and fitness-focused Roll. It also introduced its custom water bottle program, aimed at cycle clubs, teams, and corporate sponsors.
Epic HT – The “Epic” brand has long been attached to the multiple race-winning full suspension cross-country (XC) model. For 2017, the previous Stumpjumper HT has been redesigned into the Epic HT. Not just a name change, the new Epic HT is Specialized’s lightest mountain bike yet with its new sub-900 gram frame. The Epic HT is available in aluminum or carbon fiber, and in 2x or 1x World Cup setup. The S-Works Epic HT is spec’d with FACT 11m carbon, RockShox RS-1 Brain fork, and Shimano XTR Di2. The Epic line starts with a RockShox Reba RL29 fork, M5 aluminum construction, and 11-speed Shimano SLX/Deore drivetrain.
Fuse 6Fattie – When traction is at a premium, bring out the fat tires! The Fuse 6Fattie rolls over anything like nobody’s business with humongous 650b x 3.0” tires. The Fuse starts with an A1 aluminum frame, and goes all the way up to the new S-Works Fuse 6Fattie with FACT 10m carbon fiber frame, Ohlins RXF36 fork with 120mm of travel, and SRAM XX1 drivetrain.
Venge VIAS Disc – Disc brakes are now available on the world’s fastest aero road bike, the Specialized Venge VIAS. The Rider-First Engineered, FACT 11r frame now features integrated disk brake mounts for superior stopping power no matter what the weather conditions may be. The VIAS Disc is a completely different frame from the rim-brake VIAS, offering better stopping power for the same aerodynamic performance. Shimano hydraulic disk brakes are spec’d for the Venge VIAS Pro Disc Ultegra Di2, while SRAM Red Disc is fitted to the Venge VIAS Disc ETAP. The Venge VIAS is also available as an S-Works
frameset. The Venge Elite is still available, featuring the first generation aero road frame with its sleek tubes, lightweight carbon fiber frame, and Shimano 105 group.
Roubaix SL4 – Known for its buttery ride and Paris-Roubaix proven pedigree, the Roubaix SL4 is now available with FACT 8R carbon fiber. The Roubaix has an entry-level spec 10-speed Shimano Tiagra, and then moves up to 11-speed Shimano 105 with the Sport. The Comp UDi2 is set up with Shimano Ultegra Di2 electronic shifting and a carbon fiber CG-R vibration damping seatpost. The Roubaix is designed with Endurance Geometry, and features vibration-damping Zertz inserts on the fork and seatstays.
Ruby SL4 – Sister to the Roubaix, the Ruby is spec’d with FACT 9r carbon construction and a full monocoque carbon fork. Zertz inserts are similarly fitted to the fork and seatstays. The Ruby features an endurance women-specific geometry and frame sizing, along with Body Geometry Women’s saddle and handlebar.
Roll – Not everyone needs a race bike. Sometimes they just need a robust, daily rider for their commute. That’s where the Roll comes in, featuring Ground Control Geometry that allows riders to maintain an optimum leg extension yet still be able to touch the ground. The Roll can be easily ridden even while wearing pants or a skirt, and with its thick tires, it can be ridden on paved or dirt roads. Don’t forget the plush Cup Saddle that just feels so comfortable whether you’re spinning to the café or on a grocery ride. The Roll is available with a dropped top tube (“Low Entry”), flat handlebars and even a front wheel rack to mount bags and pizzas.
