ROAD BIKE PILIPINAS
GOING THE DISTANCE
With Road Bike Pilipinas, there’s a feeling of community and camaraderie among the online members. Here you can trawl for tips from the pros or seek the latest gear from their Facebook page that doubles as a buy and sell site for beginners and intermediate users.
“I decided to open this page when I realized that most pages were focused on mountain bikes,” says Road Bike Pilipinas founder Adrian Florendo. The 48-year-old avid sports lover envisioned the group as a space where people can share their biking ideas and post professional tips on the sport.
“They (members) get to learn from one another—where to ride, how to get there, what bikes to get, and tips on how to improve. They also get an opportunity to meet new ride friends, and have a platform where they can post events and all sorts of fun stuff,” says Florendo, who started as a runner and transitioned into biking when injuries became part of the equation.
“My goal is to have events such as races, gatherings and create group rides and let the average Joe understand just how far he or she can take his or her ride,” says Florendo. The page is dedicated to those who want to go the distance on their bikes, while meeting new friends and fellow enthusiasts.
