Sagada Loop 41: Rekta Silangan

What’s the meaning behind the name “Rekta Silangan“? A group of fixed gear enthusiasts once again proved that endurance can only be tested by withstanding one’s limits! This time, geared up with their mountain and cyclo-cross bikes, the group headed to Sagada in Mountain Province.

Sagada, being famous for its hanging coffins is located 275 kilometres north of Manila and is facing Bontoc, the provincial capital of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). Sagada Loop 41: Rekta Silangan, as dubbed was led by Sagada Loopers consisting of six riders and three support crew and photographers on February 6 to 14, 2016. The eight-day thrilling ride nestled uphill from Nueva Ecija to Nueva Vizcaya, Bagabag to Banaue, Banaue to Polis, Polis to Sagada, Sagada to Mt. Data, and from Mt. Data to Baguio City.

The group previously participated in several hardcore races and fun rides such as Nuvali MTB DirtweekLagarista Tres Fixed Gear (Jala-Jala to Bugarin route), and 7-11 Trail Series (Timberland King of the Mountain). When asked about Rekta Silangan‘s future plans, Ginez mentioned, “Hopefully we will be able to join the previous [annual] races and maybe another Cordillera Loop or a Quezon-Dingalan-Baler bike tour next year.” Let’s take a look back at Rekta Silangan’s Sagada Loop 41 through this documentary teaser:
