Participated by over 700 riders, the Around-Clark Bike Tour was held on July 30, 5:00am to 5:00pm. The rendezvous point was held in front of SM City Clark, at the flag pole to accommodate a bigger number of people. Registered bikers toured 15 tourists destinations around Clark await. Over 200 participants were recorded in the week of July 3. Reportedly, the numbers already exceeded the Department of Tourism – Region III’s expectations as the number grew to over 400.
“Bike tour – as of today, we’ve hit the target of 400 bikers for July 30. This might turn out to be the biggest gathering of road bikers in a single space. Here is the roadmap for the 15 stops where each rider is bound to pause, hydrate, snack and have his passport stamped. Remember: this is never a race. It is simply a tourism event on two wheels,” announced Mr. Ronnie Tiotuico, Regional Director of the Department of Tourism (DOT) – Region III on July 11.
On July 7, Bike Tour Expo 2016 announced via FB page, “Those who are interested in joining the Bike Tour but do not have their bikes yet, please let us know as we have very kind sponsors and suppliers who would be willing to lend and/or rent their bikes for you.”

You will be given a map/passport and be assigned to tour around Clark and visit the bike stopovers wherein you need have your map/passport stamped and have a photo taken. As part of Department of Tourism (DOT) – Region III‘s unwavering commitment to promoting tourism in Central Luzon, the “1st Bike Tour: Explore The City” was held on April 1 to 2, 2016.
About Department of Tourism Region III “1st Bike Tour: Explore The City”
Central Luzon is ripe for sports and special interest tours as demonstrated by its wide array of infrastructure projects such as the completion of road-widening projects in 2015 initiated by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in tandem with the Department of Tourism (DOT), e.g. Tourism Road Infrastructure Convergence Program, the existence of world-class public toilets (gas stations) in thoroughfares along MacArthur Hwy., including the presence of convenience stores along the way – not to mention the attendant tourist attractions and services in between.
The 1st Bike Tour is envisioned to provide the right opportunity for local and foreign tourists and visitors to pedal their way to a myriad of tourist destinations astride old-fashioned bicycles – either on guided and self-guided tour. Put simply, there is no better way to experience the countryside than by bicycle, rather than flying over it. Watch this video highlights of the two-day cycling route overnight.
